stereotypes

Here at Elmira District Secondary School do stereotypes exist? Do we over generalize and create roadblocks? I think stereotypes do exist in some sense, we think of blondes and jocks as dumb; we have the rich bitches and the mean girls. In all the teen based movies we watch there are the mean girls, there is always a dumb blonde in that group. The ‘top’ mean girl always dates the dumb jock. We have the blondes that act dumb just to get attention so I think that they definitely bring the stereotypingness on themselves. We have the rich bitches in our school. They think that they are better than everybody else because the have money and get what they want when they want. Nobody wants to get to know anybody new because of these stereotypes. I think we do create roadblocks, when it comes to getting to know someone we focus on how they ‘should act’ instead of how they do act.

    This is very accurate. Everyone tries to argue that they don't follow stereotypes, but the fact of the matter is, they are portrayed everywhere. At what point are stereotypes natural archetypes, and at what point do we unconsciously mirror what the media is feeding us?

    yes we do have stereo types! they may not be as exaggerated as in movies and on tv but they defiantly still do exist. We all get along with the people that are like us, but do not want to have anything to do with other groups of people!
